Meet the Adrienne Arsht Center's new Chair Posted by The Adrienne Arsht Center's board of directors held its annual meeting this week, formally kicking-off the Center's 5th Anniversary Season. Among the highlights of the meeting: Miami attorney Mike Eidson was elected chairman for a three-year term following that of Ricky Arriola; long-time board member Alan Fein become Assistant Treasurer; and the Center released its projected year-end financials, which show the institution to be on-track for another balanced budget.

Banks ignore requests to join Florida Chinese drywall litigation Posted by The Associated Press has reported today that a number of banks that own Florida homes containing faulty Chinese drywall are refusing to participate in a class-action lawsuit against the drywall manufacturer and supplier. According to Podhurst Orseck attorney Victor Diaz, lead counsel for plaintiffs in the drywall class action, banks have received numerous notices and requests to join the class – both by phone and priority mail – and not a single bank has responded.

As reported in this week's South Florida Business Journal, the City of Miami has begun environmental remediation of two sites that will serve as the future homes of Miami Art Museum and Miami Science Museum. The remediation process is the pre-cursor to vertical construction of the museum buildings, which will get going within the next few months when MAM breaks ground on its Herzog & de Meuron-designed home.
