The Newsroom 2.0

As a huge fan of The West Wing, I was so excited for Aaron Sorkin’s latest television drama The Newsroom to premiere – mostly because it portrays an industry I understand and live in every day.

From August 1 through September 30, Miami Spice is every local’s favorite time of year (it sure is ours) because we get to try new eateries and dine at old favorites – for $19/$23 (lunch) or $33/$39 (dinner), you can enjoy a three-course meal at hundreds of participating Miami restaurants.

Miami 2028?

The Magic City has hosted NFL Super Bowls, ocean races that circumvent the planet, international art fairs, and just about everything in between. The one glaring omission from this list: the Olympics. Granted, we haven’t deserved an Olympiad in the past, but the last decade has seen Miami become more global, more urban, more of an economic powerhouse, and more respected on the world stage.

As news of the confirmed merger between Newsweek and the Daily Beast circulated on Friday, National Interest posted a column that stated: “The fact that Newsweek will be merging with an online publication is, in effect, a declaration of surrender by old-line media.” We beg to differ.
