Don't look now, but the rise of Miami's next up and coming neighborhood may be underway in the most unlikely of places. The city's Health District, located just northwest of Downtown and southwest of Wynwood, smack dab between MIA and South Beach is heating up.

I’ve always been a big proponent of pizza for breakfast. Despite its clear lack of nutrition, it always seems to do the trick. Well imagine a pizza that was meant for breakfast, loaded with bacon and eggs – sunny side up nonetheless. Now that’s a meal I’d get out of bed for.

The University of Miami Life Science & Technology Park (UMLSTP), located at 1951 NW 7th Avenue on the east end of the Health District, is partnering with the Overtown Music Project and Lincoln Automotive in a special test drive event featuring Lincoln’s brand new lineup of 2013 hybrid vehicles.

 Recognizing that a truly international city requires a diverse economy capable of riding out down cycles, Miami is now turning to the life sciences and biotechnology sector as the proverbial “third-leg” of the economic stool – with the region’s proximity to the Americas playing a key role in that plan. At the center of this ‘big bet on biotech’ is the University of Miami Life Science & Technology Park (UMLSTP), a state-of-the-art research complex underway in Miami’s Health District.
