National real estate developer Wexford Science & Technology has tapped Miami-based Schwartz Media Strategies to manage public relations and marketing for the University of Miami Life Science & Technology Park (UM LSTP).
Is the new University of Miami Life Science and Technology Park the key component to the emergence of the life sciences/biotech sector in Miami? According to Jones Lang LaSalle's Rich Schuchts, this project is a “game changer” for the regional economy, and that real estate brokers can be tapping into a “pot of gold.”

Recognizing that a truly international city requires a diverse economy capable of riding out down cycles, Miami is now turning to the life sciences and biotechnology sector as the proverbial “third-leg” of the economic stool – with the region’s proximity to the Americas playing a key role in that plan. At the center of this ‘big bet on biotech’ is the University of Miami Life Science & Technology Park (UMLSTP), a state-of-the-art research complex underway in Miami’s Health District.

For years, we've been hearing about South Florida's eventual emergence as a global center for the life science industry. We're now seeing progress in that direction: the UM Life Science & Technology Park has signed the University of Miami as its first major tenant. The idea is that the discoveries under development at UM and throughout the adjacent Health District will serve as a magnet for international companies and organizations working to advance their own research. Good news for the park, the University, and the South Florida economy.
