SMS Takes Over Miami Design District

Blog|

It’s an SMS takeover! From ICA, Miami to Roberta’s Pizza – we made Miami Design District our playground. Our first destination was Miami’s new Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. ICA opened the doors to their new home in MDD on December 1, 2017.  The museum includes 20,000 square feet of gallery space across three floors along with an inviting sculpture garden. Don’t forget to reserve your free tickets here!

Our tour guide, Isabella, took us on a journey through “The Everywhere Studio” exhibit which included art by Pablo Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein, and Andy Warhol. This collection focused on the artist and where their art was created. The SMS team was very impressed by a piece completely made out of styrofoam and another which documented the daily activities of an isolated artist.

We couldn’t end there, what is an adventure without a good slice of New York style pizza? After a short walk, we landed at Roberta’s Pizza. If you’re in the area, you’ve got to grab a ‘Bee Sting’ pie: tomato sauce, mozzarella, sopressata, chili, and a touch of honey. YUM!

Check out Miami’s new Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami offering free and open access to innovative art all year long every Tuesday to Sunday from 11 AM to 7 PM.
