Social Media Week Miami is coming-up

Social Media Week Miami is coming up, and we can’t wait! This week-long conference is set to bring the ideas, trends, inspiration and insight to help people and businesses understand how to achieve more in a hyper-connected world.

Starting on September 22nd, social media experts, entrepreneurs, and community leaders will be taking over the Miami-Dade College Wolfson Campus in Downtown Miami. Panels will range from advice on how to market yourself on social media, to how to create better relationships with customers, to how to reclaim a balance in the social age, and how to be an entrepreneur in the digital marketplace.

For our part, we’re sending SMS president Tadd Schwartz to sit on a panel, “Are you a social outlaw employee? Compliance in a social business world.” With the rise of social media, it’s become an accepted practice that employees will be online throughout the workday. As PR experts, it’s not only accepted that we are on social media, but expected that we be in the loop at all times.

ComplianceThe panel will bring in opinions from several different industries on what is accepted practice for social media in the workplace. We’re sure that our SMS opinion won’t be too hard to guess, and you’ll hear from us on why it’s important that employees take part in the online conversation. Other panelists include Diana Perez, a lawyer; Marcia Narine, an assistant professor at St. Thomas Law School; Brian Pember, the director of social media at UPS; Teresita Pedrosa, general counsel at Eventcrowd; and Glen Gilmore, principal at the Gilmore Business Network.

Be sure you don’t miss out on next week’s festivities by viewing the schedule here, and stay tuned for highlights from Monday’s panel.
