Thea’s: Taking a bite out of the Health District

Who said you have to go to New York or Chicago to find good pizza?

pizzaTucked away in the Miami Health District inside the University of Miami Life Science and Technology Park is a hidden gem named Thea’s Pizzeria and Cafe — more commonly known as “Thea’s.” Recently voted one of the top pizzas in Miami by Tasting Table, this  popular lunch spot is slowly climbing the ladder among Miami’s favorite eateries.

The restaurant is helping to transform the neighborhood. Before Thea’s opened, diners in the area had limited dining options — some fast-food and maybe a hot dog stand. Yikes! Now, an eclectic mix is filing in during the lunchtime rush. Artists and gallerists spilling over from nearby Wynwood, doctors, researchers and police officers are all gathering here for a great meal.

TheaThea Goldman, the London-born, Miami-based owner, has put her heart and soul into crafting a café her customers will love. Many of the recipes are her own, and the passion she exudes can be tasted in every bite of her delicate dishes.

Enjoy a delicious handmade thin-crust pizza, gourmet salad, or sandwich surrounded by a remarkable Bisazza mosaic of blooming flowers in this little Italian café that’s won our Soundbytes team over. Have you been? What’s your favorite dish? Let us know in the comments!

If you go: 1951  NW 7th Avenue (corner of NW 20th) Miami, FL, or call  305-777-3777.
