As Florida turns the page on the new year, reasons for optimism are everywhere.

Our state’s economy is proving to be one of the most resilient in the nation. Companies and families are moving here at a blistering pace. Tourism numbers continue to set records as visitors from around the world set their sights on the Sunshine State.

And yet, in many ways, Florida is a victim of its own success as the state wrestles with the challenges of rapid growth.

Earlier this year, Schwartz Media Strategies president Tadd Schwartz penned a Miami Herald column that covered this dynamic in depth:

“Our region’s brand has never been more visible or valuable, our economy has never been more robust, and yet the stakes for our community have never been greater. For all our strengths, near-term challenges and long-term threats abound. Too many people are struggling with affordability. Traffic and congestion have become unsustainable. Soaring insurance rates are putting home ownership out of reach for most. A chronic teacher shortage is taking a toll on public school students.”

As public relations counselors serving businesses and organizations that are driving our state – from real estate developers and banks, to law firms and nonprofits – we have an inside track into understanding Florida’s greatest opportunities, as well as its most serious threats.
