Calculated Move or Hurricane IroNY

You have to love targeted online ads, and the LOL irony that sometimes comes with them.

Case in point: Miami Beach’s Fontainebleau resort smartly advertises on the NY Times metro page. The hotel peddles some pretty attractive rates this time of year, hoping out-of-towners are willing to take a risk vacationing in hurricane alley at the peak of storm season.

But what happens on the once-in-a-generation occasion when a tropical cyclone bypasses Florida and takes aim at New York? See below for the answer, copied straight from the NY Times’ hurricane evacuation map.

Not sure if this was a strategic move to lure Yankees down south with Hurricane Irene approaching, or some meteorological coincidence tailor-made for The Daily Show. Either way, I’m glad I captured the screenshot before the next ad cycled thru.
