Fourth of July Festivities

Fourth of July falls smack in the middle of the week but don’t fret because that would never prevent Miami citizens from celebrating the nation’s birthday in true revelry.

Downtown Miami

Brother Jimmy’s BBQ Block Party, 900 South Miami Avenue, brotherjimmys.com/locations/miami, 4pm – 10pm

The Fourth is all about freedom but Brother Jimmy’s party is all about free. As in free beer, free entertainment and a free pig roast. Smack in the middle of Brickell. This is definitely a casual one. Once again, it’s free.

Bayfront Park, 301 North Biscayne Boulevard , bayfrontparkmiami.com 3pm – 10pm

America’s Birthday Bash comes complete with waterfront fireworks. There’ll be vendors

Coral Gables/ Coconut Grove

Peacock and Barnacle, Barnacle, 3485 Main Highway, floridastateparks.org/TheBarnacle/11am – 4pm and Peacock Park, 2820 McFarland Rd, 4pm – 9:30

Park it in the Grove where the Barnacle State Park and Peacock Park are both hosting parties. Best of all they don’t overlap. Your day can start at 11am at the Barnacle and run right into 4pm when the party starts at Peacock park

Biltmore Hotel, 1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables, 800-456-1926, biltmorehotel.com , 4pm – 9pm

The hotel is once again hosting a Fourth of July fete but this time there’s a price and an open bar to go with it. $115 for adults, $40 for children

Miami Beach

Fire on the Fourth, Lummus Park (9th Street Beac), Noon – 10pm

Sand, music, and fireworks, sounds like a recipe for the perfect Fourth.

Mondrian, 1100 West Avenue, Miami Beach, www.mondrian-miami.com

A glamorous take complete with bayviews of fireworks and along the traditional burgers and dogs there’ll also be Cuban BBQ Chicken and other Latin twists. $50 minimum food and beverage consumption per person.

Key Biscayne

Fourth of July Parade, 400 Crandon Blvd., Key Biscayne, 305-365-5511, kb4.org 11am

Sadly, we don’t seem to have enough parades in Miami. (Dear Orange Bowl Parade, we still miss you) but hey there’s always the sweet, small-town-esque parade in Key Biscayne.
