South Florida Business Journal: 40 Under 40

Exclusive: Our next round of 40 Under 40 honorees for 2020 (Part 3)

Join us in congratulating our partner and friend, Yudi Fernandez, who has been selected among the SFBJ’s 40 Under 40!

We’re near the end of our four-part reveal of the Forty Under 40 Class of 2020, but the fun isn’t over yet.

The South Florida Business Journal is proud to announce the next 10 recipients of our annual award program honoring the region’s young and impactful leaders.

We’ll reveal the last group of 10 Friday ahead of the virtual awards program Aug. 14, along with more fun facts about this prestigious group of 40 young people. Wednesday, we revealed how many have kids, and what they would do if they won the lottery.

More fun facts about the 40 Under 40 Class of 2020 (they could give more than one response for these):

  • Travel history? 17% of the honorees have only traveled to a few U.S. states, while 43% have traveled to 10 or more states. 60% have visited more than 25 states, and 86% had traveled internationally.
  • When on Vacation: 23% said they prefer to vacation in the countryside, while 9% said they prefer a Las Vegas-style vacation. 14% said they prefer a South Florida “staycation” and another 23% said they prefer to visit a big city. 45% said they like trips to the mountains, while the majority — 69% — said they enjoy vacationing on an island or anywhere tropical.

The Forty Under 40 Awards recognize outstanding professionals under the age of 40 based in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties for their leadership, success in business and contributions to their communities. Hundreds of nominations are received annually for the award, which spotlights some of our region’s most entrepreneurial and influential young leaders.

Due to the current health crisis and social distancing guidelines, the SFBJ won’t be holding an in-person awards ceremony this year. That doesn’t mean we’ll let the Covid-19 pandemic steal our honorees’ big moment.

The remaining honorees will be revealed Friday, July 10 in our Afternoon Edition email.

On Aug. 14, from noon to 1:15 p.m., the business community can join us to celebrate the recipients at the high-energy 2020 Virtual 40 Under 40 Awards featuring emcee Jason Alpert. This coincides with the publication of our 40 Under 40 Awards special section, where readers can learn even more about the honorees.

Congratulations to the 40 Under 40 Class of 2020, and thank you to our presenting sponsor, the Florida International University College of Business, and our corporate sponsor, Wells Fargo.
