Holocaust Remembrance Day is this week, so we at Soundbytes thought we would share the story of someone who is doing something for a cause that is near and dear to the hearts of many South Floridians.
Andrew Hall, founding partner at Hall Lamb & Hall, was born into the Holocaust in Warsaw, Poland in 1944. As a result, he has dedicated his life to representing victims of terror.
“I have a profound commitment – always have had – to oppose the abusive power,” he explained to the Huffington Post in this interview. In 1992, Hall took on his first case defending a victim of terror; ultimately, he would win the case after 11 ½ years, and create groundbreaking strides for victims and their families. Moreover, Hall says, states who sponsor terrorism will know they are being held accountable in courtrooms across the United States.
“It really never leaves my thoughts,” he continued. “We tend to remember the Holocaust in terms of sugaring and the people who were there, but in reality, I think there’s a second message of the Holocaust, and that is bearing witness to what occurred there is essential to make sure it doesn’t occur again.”
A community-wide commemoration will be held in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day on Sunday, April 27, 2013 at 6:00 pm at the Holocaust Memorial of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.
